Field 'reporter' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown

Symptoms

When creating issue from recurring task, following error message is returned:

Field 'reporter' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown

The above message can also contain field name other than reporter


Cause

The error can be caused by one of the following:

  1. User "Recurring Task for JIRA" does not have permissions to create issues in the project.
  2. Field reporter (or other field listed in the error message) is not present on "Create Issue" screen.

Resolution

  1. If problem is caused by missing "Create Issue" permission for user "Recurring Task for JIRA":

  2. If problem is caused by field reporter missing on the "Create Issue" screen:

    Resolution can be found in Add field to "Create Issue" screen
